November is shaping up to be an exciting and action-packed month for the PAST team! From upcoming launches to new recruits and fresh merch, there’s plenty to share, here’s what’s been happening and what’s coming next.

HAB

We’re rapidly approaching our end-of-year High Altitude Balloon (HAB) launch!

It’s hard to believe that just a year ago, we kicked off this project with our very first HABathon, a three-day development sprint that marked the start of our journey to the stratosphere. Twelve months later, the team has grown beyond what we imagined, bringing together passionate students from across WA who share the same excitement for CubeSat development.

After months of planning, designing, and meetings, our brand-new team polos have finally arrived! They landed just after exams, the perfect end-of-semester reward.

If you spot someone around campus proudly wearing PAST blue, don’t forget to say hi!

Recruitment

Over the past eleven weeks, students from across Curtin have taken part in our semesterly recruitment process, attending info nights, onboarding sessions, and interviews.

Next week, we’ll officially welcome our newest members at the end-of-semester General Meeting. Expect fresh faces, new ideas, and even more exciting PAST projects on the horizon.

GESSS WA 2025

This week, several team members represented PAST at the GSA Earth Sciences Student Symposium (GESSS). After a strong showing and an impressive 4th place at the quiz night, they spent Thursday immersed in oral and poster presentations from students across Western Australia.

Before we send our HAB skyward, we’ll be taking a well-deserved break with a board games night, a perfect way to unwind and celebrate the end of semester.
